Dr. Kevin Jones is a
pediatric neurologist and epileptologist in the Comprehensive Pediatric Epilepsy Program
at McMaster Children’s Hospital. He is also an Associate Professor in the
Department
of Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Neurology at McMaster University. Dr. Stephanie Lavoie is registered with the College of Psychologists of
Ontario as a Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Neuropsychologist. Dr. Nevena Simic received her PhD from University of Toronto with clinical
training and postdoctoral fellowship at the Hospital for Sick Children
(SickKids). In this session of Grand Rounds, Dr. Jones explains the concepts of Epileptic,
and Developmental and Epileptic Encephalopathy, the latest diagnosis and management of infantile spasms, and the long term outcomes of Infantile spasms as a medical expert. As a health advocate and collaborator, exploring the importance of early recognition of Infantile spasms by primary care physicians, highlighting access to Multigene Epilepsy panels in Ontario and explaining the value of the Neurodevelopmental Assessment in children with Infantile Spasms allows for quicker diagnosis and treatment.
