Dr. Samara Chitayat is an Assistant Clinical Professor of
Pediatrics at McMaster University. The focus of her inpatient work is in
neonatal care at SJH. Outpatient work includes Neonatal Abstinence
Syndrome Developmental Follow up Clinics at St Joe's, Autism Diagnostic
Assessments through the ASD HUB at Ron Joyce, and Supervising General
Pediatrics Fellowship clinics at McMaster. Dr. Sandra Seigel graduated from University of Toronto Medical School in 1986. Dr.
Seigel completed her pediatric residency at McMaster University and is an Associate
Clinical Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at McMaster University. Dr. Rana Esmaeilizand is a Pediatrician and Neonatologist at St.
Joseph's hospital Julia Smallman is a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in
the Special Care Nursery. Julia recently started at St. Joseph's in April
2022 and comes to Hamilton from Sick Kids. She has a background in NICU,
PICU and General Surgery. In this session of Grand Rounds, our presenters share Quality Improvement Projects that they have been working on and highlight the significance of ensuring patient confidentiality in a tight shared space amongst other patients. The objectives are to gain an understanding of how to lay the ground for a QI project and how individual components of QI methodology link together in a QI project. They review the overall importance of Quality Improvement and give an insight of what initiatives they are currently utilizing at St. Joseph's Hospital's NICU, providing real cases and situations they have come across. Finally, they highlight the significance and impacts to families and patients when looking at QI.
