Dr. Samantha Boggs is a pediatric intensivist at McMaster Children's Hospital and an assistant professor at McMaster University. She is a leader in postgraduate medical education, a skilled coach and debriefer, and has led or co-led the implementation of translational simulation initiatives at multiple pediatric academic centers across Canada. She has presented nationally and internationally on using virtual simulation to teach bystander CPR as well as the role of simulation in improving healthcare design and systems.
Dr. Anna-Theresa Lobos is a pediatric intensivist at CHEO and an associate professor at the University of Ottawa. She is the medical director of CHEO's Medical Emergency Team and their simulation program. She is recognized both nationally and internationally for her expertise using simulation to support acute care and interprofessional education as well as to improve patient safety, workflows, and clinical design.
In this week's core session of Grand Rounds, they present how translational simulation uses immersive scenarios founded on real-world issues and improvement opportunities to explore how healthcare systems, physical spaces, workflows, and team performance function and achieve better health outcomes.
