Dr. David D'Arienzo is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at McGill University and a General Pediatrician at the Montreal Children’s Hospital. He completed his pediatric residency at McGill University, an Academic General Pediatrics Fellowship at the Hospital for Sick Children, and is completing his PhD at the University of Toronto’s Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation.
He is the co-founder of the Heart & Hands Pediatric School Clinics and manages Quebec’s interprofessional school-based clinics that serve as both care sites for underserved children and training settings pediatric and allied health trainees. His clinical interests in inpatient pediatric care inform his work to strengthen the continuum between hospital and community care. His research focuses on evaluating healthcare delivery models to improve healthcare access and equity for children.
In this week's core session of Grand Rounds, he explores how schools can serve as powerful hubs for pediatric care, bridging health and education to reach underserved children. It reviews the evidence behind school-based health clinics as an equitable model of care that aim to improve access to care and health outcomes for children.
