Dr. Brian Timmons is the Scotiabank Chair in Child Health Research at McMaster University. As Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, he is the Director of the Child Health & Exercise Medicine Program, with affiliations to the Offord Centre for Child Studies, CanChild Centre for Childhood Disability Research, the Centre for Metabolism, Obesity, and Diabetes Research, the Department of Kinesiology and Hamilton Health Sciences. His research program uses a lab bench to park bench approach to study the role of exercise as medicine for children and youth.
In this week's core session of Grand Rounds, he describes the story of building a multi-centre, international prospective cohort study, designed to investigate movement behaviours and health in children with a chronic medical condition or disability. He also shares some lessons learned and the path ahead.
