Dr. Louise Guolla (she/they) finished their training in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology at McMaster University in June 2023. Prior to that, she completed a Master's degree in Cellular Biophysics from the University of Ottawa, an MD from the University of Toronto, and the Pediatric Residency program at Memorial University of Newfoundland. She was awarded the CIHR Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship in April 2023, ranking 18th out of all applicants in Canada, and is completing a PhD in Health Research Methodology at McMaster, associated with the Clinician Investigator Program. Dr. Guolla's research interests and clinical expertise are focused in Leukemia/Lymphoma and Survivorship care, and they are passionate about improving outcomes for Adolescents and Young Adults (AYA) with cancer. To that end, her PhD thesis project will use ICES data to identify and predict factors associated with cardiovascular events and disease in survivors of AYA cancer in Ontario. Dr. Guolla holds leadership positions within the International Society of Pediatric Oncology (SIOP), including serving on the Young SIOP Network Steering Group and as the current Chair of the Young SIOP committee in North America, and is a Resident Representative on the Clinician Investigator Program Advisory Committee at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
