Dr. Enas El Gouhary is an associate professor in the division of Neonatology, Pediatrics Department at McMaster University. Dr. El Gouhary is a clinician educator with a focus on curriculum development and physician wellbeing. In 2018, Dr. El Gouhary became the program director of the Neonatal Fellowship, which ignited her passion and determination to lead change to foster a culture of wellbeing within academic medicine. Dr. El Gouhary co-led adaptation of Joy-in-Work framework into residency program, such work was highlighted in a documentary by WHO. She co- chairs the Faculty Mentorship and Wellness Committee at the Pediatrics Department and is appointed as the inaugural Wellbeing Director for Faculty of Health Sciences, and she chairs the FHS Wellbeing Committee and she established CoP for wellbeing leads across FHS. Dr. El Gouhary lately participated in Stanford University’s Chief Wellness Officer Course and received ADR training through Harvard University. At a national level, Dr. El Gouhary represent McMaster University on the National AFMC Wellness Committee and currently collaborating with other leaders to establish national governance for wellbeing. In recognition of her contributions, Dr. El Gouhary was the recipient of the PGME for Excellence and Innovation in Education and CBME Champion recognition.
Dr. Joyce Obeid is an Assistant Professor with the Child Health & Exercise Medicine Program. She completed her training in the Departments of Kinesiology and Pediatrics at McMaster. Since joining the Department of Pediatrics as faculty in 2017, her team has been exploring the power of play for children and adolescents growing up with a chronic medical condition or disability. Dr. Obeid is also interested in supporting the development and expansion of research mentorship initiatives in our department.
In this week's core session of Grand Rounds, they will share the details of faculty mentorship needs assessment, steps of design and implementation of innovative mentorship circles program within the Pediatrics Department.
