Dr. Kate Nelson is a staff pediatrician on the Paediatric Advanced Care Team (PACT) and a scientist-track researcher at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. Kate started a research lab at SickKids focused on supporting family decision-making for children with life-threatening illnesses.
Objectives:1. Describe the origins of the current dominant model of decision-making
2. Explore what happens when the model breaks down
3. Articulate how we instinctively modify our decision-making approach in
situations of great uncertainty
