Dr. Adrienn Szabo is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics. She was born and raised in Hungary, and she completed her Pediatric Residency in Budapest. She worked as a staff physician at the Hungarian National Pediatric Heart Center, with a special interest in pediatric heart failure and heart transplantation.
In 2015, she relocated to Toronto to complete her core pediatric cardiology fellowship at the Hospital for Sick Children, followed by a year of comprehensive pediatric echocardiography training. Afterwards, she completed 2 years of clinical research fellowship in fetal cardiology and echocardiography. Her academic work has focused on the effects of maternal hyperoxygenation on fetuses with complex cyanotic heart diseases.
She joined the McMaster Pediatric Cardiology Team in August 2022, where her main focuses are fetal echocardiography and general pediatric cardiology.
In this week's core session of Grand Rounds, Dr. Szabo is promoting a healthy and active lifestyle that begins with childhood. She says iIt has been suggested as a sustainable and effective strategy to enhance cardiovascular health, improve quality of life and reduce immediate and long-term risk in people with CHD.
