Dr. Kourosh Sabri is a Paediatric Ophthalmologist, Strabismologist and Associate Professor at the McMaster University. He manages all aspects of paediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus, leading a busy clinical and surgical practice.
He completed his medical training and ophthalmology residency in the U.K. followed by a fellowship in Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. He was an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Alberta from 2006 to 2009, before joining McMaster in 2010.
He is the founder and director of the McMaster Paediatric Eye Research Group (McPERG) dedicated to providing high-quality research to improve eye care delivery to children. He has received over $3 million in research funding to date. He also founded the Indigenous Children Eye Examination (ICEE) project, delivering eye care to Indigenous children in the remote northern parts of Canada. His main areas of research are vision screening, public health, telemedicine, ROP and AI.
In this week's core session of Grand Rounds, his topic presentation is titled, "Eye Mac and ICEE: Eye care models for children in urban centres and remote Indigenous communities Canada wide."
