With the McMaster Team acting as the consultant for Hatch, Ltd. as the client, this scoping study seeks to develop a design for a nickel sulphate hexahydrate refinement plant which produces the material at a rate of 50,000 tonnes per year and at a purity of >99%. The design is accompanied with a risk assessment, sustainability assessment, functional mass and energy balance model, process design criteria, mechanical equipment list, total project cost and operability assessment and sustainability/environmental impact assessment. The final design meets all requirements, and within current profitability limits, is therefore recommended for progression to feasibility study.
