About Hooker Distinguished Visiting Professor Lecture SeriesThe Hooker Distinguished Visiting Professor Lecture Series is named after Dr. Harry Lyman Hooker (1876-1979).
Dr. Hooker was born in Buffalo but grew up in Hamilton, where he practiced internal medicine. Upon his death, he left McMaster University a $25 million bequest, which supports numerous initiatives across campus.
In the Faculty of Health Sciences, this includes the annual awarding of the Hooker Distinguished Visiting Professor Lecture Series, which supports visits from distinguished speakers and lecturers.
