Dr. Adam Rapoport is a general pediatrician with a Masters degree in bioethics. In July 2011, Adam became the first Medical Director of the Paediatric Advanced Care Team (PACT), the palliative care service at SickKids. PACT provides both inpatient and outpatient palliative care to children with serious illnesses and their families. In 2013, Adam was named the inaugural Medical Director at Toronto’s first pediatric residential hospice – Emily’s House. In 2020, Adam was appointed by Ontario Health to serve as the Clinical Lead for the development of a provincial model of care for children with palliative care needs. He has more than 50 peer-reviewed publications and is a co-editor of the Oxford Textbook of Palliative Care for Children (3rd ed), published in 2021.
In this week's core session of Grand Rounds, he will introduce and familiarize participants with Ontario’s newly released model of care for children with palliative care needs. Attendees will gain an understanding of how and why the model of care was developed, become acquainted with its key aspects, and appreciate their own role in delivering high-quality palliative care to children in the region.
