Dr. Johnson completed medical school and her pediatrics residency at McGill and then completed her fellowship in Adolescent Medicine at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto before joining our Department 16 years ago,.She has long been a passionate advocate for children, youth, and families affected by racism and other types of oppression and in 2016, she established a clinical service providing gender affirming care to trans and gender diverse youth - the first of its kind at McMaster Children's Hospital. Under her leadership, in March 2022, this clinic received a generous $500,000.00 grant from TD to expand its services. She has presented and published on various sexual health related topics including use of simulation to teach pelvic exam skills, sexual health issues amongst patients on a pediatric mental health unit and gender gender affirming care. Natasha’s parents immigrated to Canada from Jamaica. She was born and raised in Montreal where her parents still live. She is a single mother to two teen boys - one who just started University!
