We are Team 11 consisting of Bianca, Joanne, Tiffany and Roxxannia and all four of us are in Biomedical Engineering and Engineering Physics
We have created OptiScan, a handheld smartphone-based system that allows
the user to take retinal images right at home. Optiscan consists of an
attachable lens system, phone camera, and flashlight, which is controlled by a
mobile app that stores and processes the image taken. Our housing is made to be
lightweight, portable, and cheaper than existing similar devices, making it
easy to use by non-eyecare professionals with minimal training. In addition, a software app was built to incorporate
a user-friendly interface with features such as adjustable zoom and image
position sliders after taking an image.
