Diana Tikasz has
worked in the teaching and healthcare sector for over 30 years specializing in
trauma-focused work. Over the course of her career she has worked with
the Emergency Department Crisis Teams, coordinated hospital based sexual
assault/domestic violence treatment programs, which involved assisting individuals
experiencing a current crisis, counselling those who have been traumatized by
violence, and teaching a variety of other professionals how to do this work
effectively while staying healthy themselves.
Working in healthcare and particularly in Pediatric
Oncology means we do high stress, trauma exposed work which can be rewarding
but also has its challenges. As healthcare providers, we are inherently
resilient and resourceful, however the current prolonged conditions have
challenged us all, leaving many of us and our teams feeling exhausted and
overwhelmed.
