Dr. Mariam Hanna is a Pediatric Allergist & Immunologist and cofounder of Halton Pediatric Allergy in Burlington, Canada. She is an Assistant Clinical Professor (Adjunct) at McMaster University. She is the Section Chair of Allergy for the Ontario Medical Association, and is Vice Chair of the Allergy Section of the Canadian Pediatrics Society. She serves as Pediatrics Advisor for the Canadian Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, and hosts the society's podcast entitled The Allergist. Her clinical interests include early allergy prevention, asthma, aeroallergen and food immunotherapy.
In this week's core session of Grand Rounds, she reviews the clinical patterns and diagnostic challenges of recurrent wheeze and early childhood asthma, with a practical approach to applying current guideline-directed management in preschool children. It will also explore the evolving role of emerging tools, from biomarkers to biologic therapies, in refining diagnosis and treatment.
