Dr. Enas El Gouhary is an Associate
Professor in the Division of Neonatology, Pediatrics Department at McMaster
University. Dr. El Gouhary is a clinician educator with a focus on curriculum
development and physician wellbeing. In 2018, Dr. El Gouhary became the program
director of the Neonatal Fellowship, which ignited her passion and
determination to lead change to foster a culture of wellbeing within academic
medicine. Dr. El Gouhary co-led adaptation of Joy-in-Work framework into
residency program, such work was highlighted in a documentary by WHO and she is
currently co-leading an NICU culture transformation project. She chairs the
Mentorship and Wellness Committee at the Pediatrics Department and is appointed
as the inaugural Wellbeing Director for Faculty of Health Sciences and she
chairs the FHS Wellbeing Committee. Dr. El Gouhary lately participated in
Stanford University’s Chief Wellness Officer Course and received ADR training
through Harvard University. At a national level, Dr. El Gouhary was appointed
to represent McMaster University on the National Wellness Committee of the
Association of Faculties of Medical Schools (AFMC). In recognition of her
contributions, Dr. El Gouhary was the recipient of the Postgraduate Medical
Education Award for Excellence and Innovation in Education.
