RIPPLE is a surface water trash skimming robot. It is designed to be controlled by a user with a remote control. The user is provided real time data through a live camera feed, a proximity detector to identify trash and obstacles, and GPS tracking. The user will guide the boat towards identified floating trash to collect the garbage in a net at the back of the boat. The team consists of Shayda Rahmatyan, Kaelyn Bamford, Vedashri Pandya, Clara Yaromich, Avery Zeiler, and Thuvarakaa Sathiyamether. This project was made possible through the help and generosity of capstone advisors Dr. Alan Wassyng, Dr. Paul Rapoport, and Dr. Matthew Giamou, as well as our lab space provider Dr. Elli Papangelakis.
