Dr. Thomas Hawke currently serves as the graduate director for Metabolism and Nutrition within the Medical Sciences Graduate Program McMaster and as the Associate Editor for the American Journal of Physiology - Cell Physiology. In the last 5 years, Dr. Hawke has directly supervised a total of 45+ trainees within his research laboratory.
Dr. Hawke’s lab has developed an international reputation for their studies investigating the growth, adaptation and repair of skeletal muscle in health and in response to disease (with a particular emphasis on type 1 diabetes). They have published over 90 papers in well-respected journals such as Diabetes, Diabetologia, and the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, with citations exceeding 7500.
