Ice hockey is a high-contact sport with a high risk of injury, particularly concussions and upper extremity injuries, due to the high speeds and impact forces experienced during play. Despite its popularity and injury rates, there is limited research on the biomechanical forces affecting the shoulder and upper extremities, which is essential for improving protective equipment design. Our goal was to design a surrogate to test forces that simulate hockey-related impacts in the shoulder and upper extremity.
