Dr. Sandeep Raha is an Associate Professor, Pediatrics at McMaster University. He completed his PhD in the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Toronto and carried out post-doctoral training at the Hospital for Sick Children in the area of metabolic diagnostics. He has been a principal investigator in the department of Pediatrics since 2007. His research focuses on understanding how maternal cannabis use during pregnancy can alter placental and mammary gland function and impact the post-natal health of the baby. He is also the founder and director of the McMaster Children’s and Youth University outreach programme, a pan-university, STEAM-based approached which has been operating for 12 years.
This week's core session of Grand Rounds chronicles the impact of the bioactive components of cannabis use during the perinatal period. This is a journey to link clinical observations to research that explores the underlying physiological processes.
