Dr. Brian Timmons is the Scotiabank Chair in Child Health Research and Canada Research Chair in Child Health & Exercise Medicine at McMaster University. As Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, he is the Director of the Child Health & Exercise Medicine Program, with affiliations to the Offord Centre for Child Studies, CanChild Centre for Childhood Disability Research, the Centre for Metabolism, Obesity, and Diabetes Research, the Department of Kinesiology and Hamilton Health Sciences. His research program uses a lab bench to park bench approach to study the role of exercise as medicine for children and youth.
In this week's core session of Grand Rounds, he will review how children thermoregulate, their ability to tolerate and adapt to extreme heat, and implications for their health in the context of climate change.
