Dr. Angela Alberga completed her MSc and PhD in Exercise Physiology at the University of Ottawa. She then completed a CIHR Banting Postdoctoral fellowship on weight stigma reduction in education, healthcare and public policy at the University of Calgary. She is now an Associate Professor and CIHR Implementation Science Chair in Youth Health at Concordia University, Montreal. She is the Director of the Health for EveryBODY Research Lab leading an interdisciplinary research program aimed to address social determinants of health that influence weight-related issues including obesity, eating disorders, physical inactivity and weight stigma across the lifespan.
In this week's core session of Grand Rounds, she uncovers how weight stigma can arise unintentionally in pediatric clinical encounters and will provide practical, evidence-informed strategies to reduce weight stigma in clinical practice in pediatrics.
