Dr. Saroj Saigal is one of the original neonatologists, who with Dr Jack Sinclair, started the McMaster NICU
in February 1973. Her research interest has been on the outcomes of former premature infants from birth to adulthood and she is internationally recognized for these studies.
In this week's core session of Grand Rounds, Dr. Saigal presents short-term studies of premature infants that have focused on neurological, behavioural and learning difficulties. Further follow-up to adulthood has shown that as they age, they are faced with hypertension, cardio-metabolic, visual, and mental health issues.
