Monty Sawalha is a PGY-3 in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at McMaster University. The weather in Hamilton Ontario has been a warm welcome since completing medical school in his hometown Edmonton, Alberta. The close proximity to Lake Ontario from Hamilton has been a blessing and has given birth to a newfound hobby of boating. After completing his residency, he hopes to make a career in the field of musculoskeletal medicine and pain management.
In this developmental pediatric academic hour session, Monty presents the understanding of why children might prefer to 'W' sit and the natural evolution of 'W' sitting in children while examining the level of evidence behind suggested complications of 'W' sitting. He also presents when to intervene or refer children appropriately.
