Dr. Jeffrey Pernica is an Associate Professor for the Department of Pediatrics at McMaster University, and the director of the special immunization clinic in McMaster Children's Hospital.
His research and interests relate to the optimization of the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory infections and sepsis for children. He has long been involved in global child health and global health research.
In this week's core session of Grand Rounds, Dr. Pernica describes epidemiologic shifts in RSV and other respiratory infections in children during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. He also discusses on recent approvals of RSV vaccines and monoclonal antibody products, as well as the new pneumococcal vaccines.
