Allison Van will talk about how grad school is different from undergrad, going beyond the superficial differences to help you understand the goals of graduate programs. Allison will discuss how to work with the quantity of work in grad school, how to read papers, and how to start organizing your work. She will then talk about McMaster specific resources for social science graduate students.
Bio:
Allison Van has been working in university settings for 8 years and running. Currently, she is the Executive Director of Spark: a center for social research innovation at McMaster University within the Faculty of Social Sciences. Allison is currently building Spark into an international model of innovation in social science research support. She specializes in mixed-methods complex systems analysis, community/academic partnerships, and the translation of research into social change.
